Denmark is among the only countries that want to get rid of fossil cars

The analysis firm BloombergNEF believes that Denmark and the other Nordic countries are among the only countries to sign off on CO2 emissions from cars in 2050.

A majority in the Folketing decided in 2020 that Denmark must be climate neutral by 2050 at the latest.

But when you look at the development in the car industry, it is only Denmark, the other Nordic countries and the US state of California that are actually on the way to the goal of an emission-free transport sector in 2050.

This is written by the financial media Bloomberg on the basis of a new report from the analysis company BloombergNEF.

– Some markets are experiencing a significant slowdown, and car manufacturers have reversed their electric car targets, says Colin McKerracher, who is behind the report.

At the same time, the report points to several reasons in several European countries why the goal of a CO2-free transport sector is lagging behind. However, the Americans themselves are not much better.

According to BloombergNEF, Ford and GM have failed to produce electric cars on a larger scale, and most recently the car manufacturers have drawn up their own targets. At least when it comes to electric cars.

The report also accuses both England and Italy of having a mixed approach to electric cars. And in Germany, support for new electric cars stopped abruptly last December.

Something that has actually caused sales of the car type to plummet ever since. The Japanese have also held again. Among other things, Toyota does not believe at all that electric cars will ever get more than 30 percent of the market.

– As a result, China is today the only major car market that has reached a point where there is consumer-driven growth in electric car sales, writes Bloomberg.

At home, a political majority decided last year to keep the registration tax on electric cars low. This means that there is virtually no tax on electric cars under DKK 430,000. And in fact, the government will now investigate whether electric car owners can now get even more financial help. Read more about it here .
