Danish Formula 1 choir signs contract with Cadillac

Danish Frederik Vesti, who is a reserve driver for both Mercedes and McLaren in Formula 1, will now also be a factory driver for Cadillac.

Danish racing driver Frederik Vesti continues his career with a new challenge in the American sports car series IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Vesti, has signed a contract with American General Motors. A contract that makes him a factory driver for Cadillac in six long-distance races in the GTP class, where he will drive a prototype car. Among the races are well-known tracks such as Daytona, Sebring and Petit Le Mans.

That's what Motormagasinet writes.

Vesti, who is the test and reserve choir for Mercedes AMG F1 and McLaren in 2025, has a clear goal of reaching Formula 1 with a permanent seat.

In order to remain competitive and keep the skills behind the wheel constant, the choice has fallen on the IMSA series.

Vesti was in competition with other Formula 1 reserve drivers for the seat at Cadillac, but in the end it was the Dane who secured the place, according to his manager Dorte Riis Madsen.

– This is a really good opportunity for me to stay sharp. Several Formula 1 reserve drivers just watch as they wait for their chance. That possibility does not exist in my head. I'm going out to race, says Frederik Vesti.

With General Motors, one of the world's largest car manufacturers, behind it, Vesti gets an opportunity to compete at the highest level in the IMSA series. He will get his first taste of the Cadillac racer later this month when he takes part in a test circuit in Bahrain.
