The bankrupt car company Fisker Inc., headed by Danish Henrik Fisker, is among the companies that have been hit by North Korean hacker attacks.
Fisker Inc., the bankrupt electric car company founded by Danish Henrik Fisker, has become involved in an extensive case of hacker attacks and fraud.
According to a report by the US Federal Police, the FBI, a number of North Korean agents have managed to infiltrate several Western companies, including Fisker Inc., by posing as home-based IT specialists.
The case includes a search warrant from October 2023, which reveals that Fisker employed an external IT consultant named Kou Thao in October 2022. He gave an address in Arizona, but the residence turned out to belong to a woman named Christina Marie Chapman.
That's what the Engineer writes.
Chapman is now accused of running a so-called "laptop farm" where North Korean IT people used her home and IP address to hide their true identity. This has enabled them to get jobs in Western companies without their connection to North Korea being discovered.

It is not only Fisker Inc. that is affected. According to the FBI, several hundred Western companies have been infiltrated by these North Korean agents, who work from countries such as Russia and China.
They perform legitimate tasks for the companies, but their wages go directly to North Korea. The FBI estimates that Christina Marie Chapman and her network have misused over 60 American identities, and this has resulted in a financial gain of nearly $7 million – money that ends up in the North Korean regime.
According to the FBI, the primary purpose of the fraud is two-sided. On the one hand, the agents try to gain access to confidential systems in Western companies, and on the other hand, they earn money that is sent back to North Korea to support the country's ballistic missile program. This practice is in violation of both UN and US sanctions against North Korea, which makes the matter extremely serious.
Fisker Inc. otherwise left a huge chaos when the last employees of the company left their rented headquarters in California. Now the landlord is considering suing the bankruptcy estate. Read more about it here .
