The Cyclistforbundet is now calling for all cyclists to be able to take their two-wheelers with them for free when a new light rail opens in Copenhagen.
It must be free for cyclists to take their bikes on the new light rail in the Hovedstad area.
In fact, the Cyklistforbundet writes in a press release that 'it shouldn't cost a penny to cycle'.
Director of the Cyclistforbundet Kenneth Øhrberg Krag thinks so.
– We believe that it should naturally be free to take the bicycle on the light rail, so that we get as many people as possible to combine bicycle and train.
Right now, bicycles can be taken free of charge on S-trains, harbor buses, local trains and Movia's buses on Zealand and the islands. While it costs money both in the Metro and DSB's long-distance and regional trains.

In the press release, neither Cyklistforbundet nor the director answers where the extra space that bicycles will take up in public transport is to be found.
The Cyclistforbundet also does not answer what is to finance the fact that it can take bicycles on public transport for free.
A funding proposal, on the other hand, is currently being considered by the parliament. The Danish Democrats have proposed removing the periodic tax on vintage cars.
However, transport spokesman Kenneth Fredslund Petersen will not go as far as in Norway, where in 2019 the registration tax will be completely abolished on all cars over 20 years old.
– I honestly think that the weight tax on our veteran corvettes is a fire tax. Veteran coronets are, after all, Danish cultural heritage on four wheels.
