Competitors are considering introducing a special Tesla tax

In an effort to have as many free charging stations as possible, Tesla charges a blocking fee if drivers do not move their cars quickly. The competitors do not do that. Yet!

It only happens when a Supercharger station's capacity is more than half full. But Tesla still has a special blocking fee in play.

A fee charged to people who do not move their electric cars away from the individual charging station quickly enough after charging. If the car is moved within five minutes, the driver does not have to cough up the fee. However, it is doubled when the station is completely full.

The competitors do not use this. At least not yet. However, attempts are underway. Boosted has previously told about an attempt in the US state of California.

Here, the charging of all electric cars is limited to 85 percent at the charging operator Electrify America. The same company charges a fee if the electric cars are not subsequently moved quickly enough.

The goal of the new tax is – similar to the idea at Tesla – to avoid charging stations becoming a parking lot for lazy types in electric cars.

But with several of the competitors, a withholding tax is not something you think about yet. This is recognized both at Circle K and Q8.

That's what We Bilägare writes.

– We generally see that our customers leave the post on time and help each other. We would like to have simple pricing so that customers know what they are paying for in advance and have peace of mind, says Lisa Öhrqvist from OKQ8's communications department in Sweden.

The operator Recharge also refrains from introducing a blocking charge for the time being. But they also do not refuse to impose it on the customers at a later stage.

In South Korea too, there is a fight against electric car owners who fill up too much for too long at various charging stations. Therefore, it will soon be prohibited to charge electric car batteries to more than 80 percent in several places in the country. Read more about it here .
