Chinese cars risk mold attacks – nobody wants to own them

The Chinese brands are coming. In fact, they are already here. But motorists just don't mind them, recent reports show.

At home, the Chinese brands find it difficult to attract motorists. This can be seen in the sales figures, where only a few car brands from the communist dictatorship sell cars in significant numbers.

For example, things are going okay for Volvo, which with 2,213 new cars on Danish plates just manages to squeeze into the top 10.

However, the picture is not much different in our neighboring countries. In Germany, the media – among others Handelsblatt – can tell about brand new electric cars that just stand and collect dust in the country's ports.

As an example, the media cites BYD, who have experienced that their sales to the Germans have almost come to a standstill.

Figures from the German motor register show that BYD sold just 160 cars in the country in March. After the German government withdrew the state subsidy for electric cars, the cars have also become considerably more expensive. Also when compared to cars with a combustion engine.

According to sources that Handelsblatt has spoken to, there is no indication that BYD will be able to remove the cars from ports such as Bremerhaven for the time being. However, the media also points out that cars from other Chinese brands pile up in the same places.

And because the cars are exposed to all kinds of wind and weather, this can ultimately mean that they, among other things, is attacked by mold. It will therefore require greater preparation to get the cars out on the roads in the first instance.

A report from Bilbasen last year showed that a handful of the Chinese brands that are most well-known here at home have not yet sold 10,000 cars to the Danes. Not even when the sales figures are added up.

A brand like Nio, which otherwise focused on battery replacement technology, has also had to admit that the competition is tough in Denmark. After just 2 sales this year, the boss has been fired and the brand has gone dormant. Read more about it here .
