China brand now builds cars in Poland for DKK 2,600

Due to a collaboration with the Stellantis group, Chinese Leapmotor is now moving to Europe. More specifically Poland with an extremely cheap car.

The car is unlikely to cost DKK 2,600.

Nevertheless, that's what Chinese Leapmotor can build the small electric crossover T03 for in Poland. It is all due to a collaboration with the Stellantis Group.

A collaboration that also means that Leapmotor completely avoids the punitive tariff of up to 38 percent that the EU has recently imposed on Chinese-built cars.

According to Leapmotor, no serial production of the T03 has yet been produced at the factory in Poland. But it has succeeded in pushing the production price down to the level of that in China.

This is what Carnews China writes.

The 2,600 kroner that Leapmotor expects to sacrifice in production costs is also half of what the car would cost to build in Italy. Stellantis owns 51 percent of the Chinese car brand's joint venture and therefore has control over car production in Poland.

The cooperation between the car groups led already last year to Stellantis buying 21 percent of the entire Leapmotor. However, it is not certain that the cheap Chinese will be a success on our shores.

In any case, the director of a large Danish car importer predicts that several Chinese brands will find it so difficult to cope in Europe that they will withdraw altogether. Read more about it here .

As far as is known, there is still no Danish importer who intends to take Leapmotor's model program to the country. In any case, nothing is officially out.
