Volkswagen sat at the top for a long time with the Golf. But now it is a Dacia that is Europe's best-selling car. The cheap Sandero downright humiliates the Germans.
Volkswagen probably sells a lot of Golfs. Between January and April this year, there were 85,781 new versions of the car on European roads.
But it is peanuts compared to what Dacia can sell and has sold of the budget car Sandero. The model, which is otherwise Denmark's cheapest van, was bought in far, far more copies.
In fact, Dacia has a lead of more than 11,000 cars over Volkswagen. Specifically, 97,021 new Sanderos were sold in the same period.
This means that for three out of the first four months of the year, Dacia has been the Europeans' favorite car brand.

Tesla, which last year was not just the most popular car brand in Denmark but in the whole of Europe, is just barely in the current top 10.
With 67,975 new Model Ys, it is just enough for 8th place. In fact, only two Toyotas rounding out the top spots fare worse. The 10th most popular car in Europe is currently the Yaris.
In four months, the model has expanded the European stock of passenger cars by 61,755 copies on its own.
However, it is not everywhere that things are going super well for Toyota. In the home market of Japan, sales have plummeted, and in China it has almost collapsed. Read more about it here .
