Charlie in shock over bill of 300,000 – Toyota refuses warranty

The owner of a brand new Toyota Corolla is left with a dead engine after just 800 kilometers. Toyota denies any warranty.

Charlie Holmblad's brand new Toyota Corolla GR is dead.

Anyway, the engine is done. And that just after 800 kilometers. However, Toyota refuses to help the American with the Danish-sounding surname.

The brand says that this is due to the way Charlie Holmblad has treated the gearbox during the car's short life.

The driver says so in an interview with Carscoops .

The crazy thing is that Charlie Holmblad paid 41,515 dollars corresponding to 287,000 Danish kroner for the car. Toyota wants DKK 300,000 for a new engine.

Charlie Holmblad also admits to the dealer that on his way home from work he found third gear instead of fifth gear.

For that reason, the engine spun at 8,900 revolutions. The limiter is already at 6,500 revolutions. According to Toyota, that kind of torture has smashed everything from the cylinder head over the valves to the actual piston in cylinder 3.

Toyota alone believes that a new block should cost DKK 38,000, the cylinder head itself DKK 16,000 and the intercooler DKK 20,000. In addition, 37,000 kroner must be added for a new turbo, just to mention a little of the bill.

This is not the first time that Toyota has refused to be available with warranty provisions because of the way a car has fallen short.

And that even though the Japanese brand boasted that they had created a car for street use on the race track. Read more about it here .
