Despite Stellantis' excuses from the group's own director's threats about the closure of 'several car brands', Chrysler may be dead in just 2 years.
The world's fourth-largest car group Stellantis and its American brand Chrysler are facing such big challenges that the brand may be closed within two years.
Group director Carlos Tavares has announced that an assessment of the brands in the group will take place in approximately two years.
Here, Stellantis will review their “Dare Forward 2030” strategy, where the performance of each brand will be measured. Tavares emphasizes that these evaluations can have consequences for the brands that have not achieved the desired goals.
That's what Automotive News writes.
– We will review each brand's performance about two-thirds into the Dare Forward 2030 plan, so you can expect decisions in two to three years.

The evaluation of Stellantis' brands will involve an assessment of whether the individual brands can still receive financial support and resources. Tavares has stated that Stellantis has so far held its ground and has launched the new STLA Medium platform that debuted in the latest Peugeot 3008.
– When it was necessary, we rescheduled product launches due to changed conditions, but we didn't drop anything.
This statement may indicate that Stellantis is trying to adapt to market challenges. Volkswagen is an eerie current example of the same. Read more about it here.
For Chrysler, however, the situation is even more uncertain. The brand currently only has two models on the market: the Pacifica minivan and an updated version of the Pacifica called the Voyager.
Chrysler had plans to develop an electric crossover inspired by the Airflow concept from 2020. But the plan was dropped because the brand's customers reacted negatively to the car.
Instead, the Halcyon concept was presented to the same customer group as late as February this year. But the car's design may be too distinctive for Chrysler to bring it to market.
However, rumors point to a future model that could have similarities to the Dodge Charger Daytona EV. However, how much team is in it is unknown.
It is also unclear whether Stellantis is specifically considering closing Chrysler in connection with the upcoming decisions.
But Tavares has previously mentioned that all brands under Stellantis' umbrella originally had until 2030 to prove their worth.
According to Tavares, future decisions will probably rest with his successor. The highly criticized top director will step down himself in 2026, when his contract expires. A replacement for the post is expected to be presented in late 2025.
