VinFast, which for a short period last year was worth more than Volkswagen, is accused of not being able to pay rent. And now they have to recall 300 cars with dangerous airbags.
There is no shortage of Vietnamese VinFast.
Sales are so bad that the car brand buys its own cars. In California, they are having trouble paying the rent, and now there are possibly 300 very dangerous airbags to give a headache about.
In any case, VinFast has now recalled almost 300 cars because it is feared that they are filled with equipment from prototypes. Something that prevents the airbags from deploying in the event of an accident.

52 of the cars are already out with customers. But VinFast has to look at the cars again, because there is a risk that they are equipped with inactive airbag detonators.
Something that is otherwise only used in prototype cars. Something that the car brand otherwise only uses for 'safety reasons' in the final stages of the development work.
So far, there have been no reports of injuries or fatalities due to the error. And the solution is also just ahead. VinFast simply replaces airbags in cars with ones that actually work and are not just dummies.
The story does not say anything about how the error could even occur on VinFast's assembly line in the first place. But it is far from the first time that airbags are the cause of very serious problems.
The Japanese sub-supplier to the automotive industry Takata Corporation went bankrupt in 2018 because it had equipped millions of cars with life-threatening airbags.
The mess the Japanese left behind is still causing major problems for car brands. Most recently, Nissan had to ask 40,000 car owners not to use their cars because of the error. Read more about it here .
