Car brand claims to have developed a 'bulletproof' battery

The car group Zhejiang Geely, which i.a. owner of Volvo and Polestar, claims to have developed a 'bulletproof' battery that does not explode.

With a new battery technology, which the group calls 'Geely bulletproof batteries', Chinese Geely will go straight after the competitors from BYD.

This is written by Carnewschina .

The lithium-ion battery, the Chinese say, has an energy density of 192Wh/kg and 'contribute to increased safety, long life, fast charging capacity and discharge performance at lower temperatures.

In a press release, Geely writes that the battery has been safety tested on all conductors and edges. Especially during peak hours, they say.

After 7 minutes and 55 seconds under high load, the Chinese do not believe that they saw either smoke, the battery burning or any kind of explosion in the battery pack. At no time did the surface temperature of the battery pack exceed 40 degrees, Geely claims.

According to Carnewschina's information, Geely has applied for the trademark register for both "Geely bulletproof batteries" and "Aegis bulletproof batteries". All because of the very high level of safety in the battery packs.

Batteries that will debut in the upcoming Geely Galaxy E5 that will be shown to the public in early August. Initially with a range of between 440 and 530 kilometers.

However, batteries are not the only thing the Chinese are working on. Weichai Power believes that they have created the world's most energy-efficient diesel engine. Read more about it here .
