It is the state's right when California wants to ban new diesel and petrol cars in 2035 and before tightening the emission requirements for fossil cars.
The permission of the US environmental authorities, which means that California must ban all new diesel and gasoline cars by 2035, is in force.
A US federal appeals court ruled this after 17 other Republican-governed states appealed the permit that made the ban possible.

The 17 states believe that California, with the ban on new diesel and petrol cars in 12 years' time, has gained a power that the other states do not have. But there is nothing wrong with that, states an appeals court.

In 2019, former President Donald Trump withdrew the permit California had already received. But in the spring of 2022, his successor Joe Biden overturned that decision.
– Today's decision is a victory for cleaner air and cleaner cars. And not just in California, but throughout the country, said the environmental organization Sierra Club's lawyer Joshua Berman immediately after the decision.
California is not the only state with plans to ban all but new electric cars by 2035. New Jersey has decided to do the same.Read more about it here .
