Brabus' new station wagon is limited to 1,820 Nm

Brabus has done it again. Modified a Mercedes beyond recognition. Or at least almost. This is an SL that looks like BMW's 'clown shoes'. So with 1,820 newton metres.

Brabus has taken the Mercedes SL and transformed it into a powerful machine with 900 horsepower and a V8 engine.

The car is equipped with a heavily modified 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, where everything from connecting rods and pistons to turbochargers has been replaced and fine-tuned.

Brabus has further modified the crankshaft, exhaust system, catalytic converter and engine management to maximize engine performance.

This model, called Rocket GTS, achieves an impressive effect for the same reason. Brabus states the car's output at 1,000 horsepower (exactly 735 kW), but the engine actually delivers 999,322 hp.

An electric motor also contributes 204 horsepower, powered by a 6.1 kWh battery. The total output from the petrol engine alone is 796 hp and a torque of 1,050 Nm. To ensure stability and safety, the system's total torque is electronically limited to 1,820 Nm.

With these specifications, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 317 km/h. For those who wish to test the car's full potential, it takes 9.5 seconds to reach 200 km/h and an impressive 23.6 seconds to reach 300 km/h.

In addition to the engine upgrades, Brabus has also significantly changed the car's design. The SL model is wider and most of the bodywork is made of glossy black carbon fiber.

Special rims, called "aerodiscs," are also made of carbon fiber. The front tires measure 275/35 ZR21, while the wider rear tires are 335/25 ZR22 mounted on 22-inch rims that further enhance the car's aggressive appearance.

The chassis has also undergone an adaptation, and Brabus has installed its own height-adjustable sports suspension. The cabin follows the style of the exterior with carbon fiber and leather.

A significant difference in this version of the Mercedes SL is the space in the back. The now four-person configuration makes it possible to include extra passengers. However, the space itself is limited and primarily suitable for children or very short trips.

Overall, this Brabus edition of the Mercedes SL is a model aimed at those looking for raw power and a distinctive look – although its practicality is limited to those with no need for spacious rear seats.
