At BMW in Munich, employees are getting busy, if they aren't already. The brand is introducing 40 new cars over the next 3 years.
40 new cars in just 3 years.
That's the plan at BMW in Munich. Specifically, it's a mix of facelifts and completely new models.
A significant portion of the upcoming vehicles will be the first models based on the electric Neue Klasse platform, which the car brand has been teasing for more than a year now.
The first car in the new wave is expected to be the new iX3, which is the production version of the Neue Klasse Vision X concept car.
This is what Autocar writes.
Shortly after, a fully electric version of the 3 Series will be launched. At least if statements from BMW's CEO, Oliver Zipse, are to be believed.
40 new cars even though BMW's sales are declining
The cars are coming, even if BMW's results for 2024 were a bag of mixed candy.
The group's overall sales figures for 2024 showed a decline. Across the BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce brands, 2.45 million cars were sold, which is 4 percent lower than in 2023.
For the BMW brand specifically, sales fell by 2.3 percent to 2.2 million cars. Mini sold 245,000 cars. A drop of a whopping 17.1 percent. And Rolls-Royce sold 5,712 cars, which was 5.3 percent fewer than the year before.
At the same time, the group's revenue fell by 8.4 percent to 142 billion euros. Profit before tax fell by 35.8 percent to 10.9 billion euros.
A major reason, which BMW does not elaborate on, is a significant decline in Chinese sales, something that almost all major European and American brands are struggling with.
Despite the general decline in total sales figures, BMW can note that, unlike its competitors, it is selling more electric cars.
The BMW Group sold 426,594 electric cars across its brands in 2024. Or 13.5 percent more electric cars than the previous year.
Despite the challenges in China, BMW managed to sell over 100,000 electric cars in the country. Electric car sales also reached a record high in the US with 50,000 cars sold.
For luxury brand Rolls-Royce, every third car sold in 2024 was an electric Spectre model. The upcoming launch of many new models can be seen in light of these mixed results and the development of the electric car market.
