There is a lack of microchips in the automotive industry. In fact, so many are missing that BMW is now just the latest brand to report boring consequences.
It's nice to have. Because then your phone plays together with the car's other infotainment, screens and systems. But now BMW is removing both Apple Car Play and Android Auto from new models. It happens because the German car manufacturer – like almost everyone else in the car industry – lacks microchips. However, the function will only be missing temporarily, the Germans promise. Thus, both the one and the other system will become part of a future update for the affected models. But for now, owners of brand new BMWs must find the AUX plug or their bluetooth connection if the phone is to play along with the car. Specifically, the function is temporarily removed from factory-new BMWs because the Germans have changed microchip suppliers. And here you can't deliver anything that can still talk to Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Car Throttle writes it.
