The BMW group has come under fire in the US for importing at least 8,000 cars with parts made by Chinese slaves.
BMW has ended up in something of a storm in the US, but not because the car brand has (again) been caught cheating with the emissions from diesel cars.
This time, the BMW Group has imported at least 8,000 Mini Cooper models, which contain parts made under slave labor in China, into the United States.
The BBC writes that.
However, BMW is not the only car brand that, according to the US authorities, knew very well that the cars were built from parts from slave workers in China.
Both the Volkswagen Group and the Jaguar Land Rover Group (JLR) have bought parts of a supplier that was on a list of companies that must not do business with because the company can be linked to slave labor in China.

BMW says that it will now contact the owners of the cars with the illegal parts in them, so that the parts can be replaced.
The JLR group says that it has calculated its stock of the illegal parts and that these must now be destroyed.
Back in February this year, Volkswagen informed the US authorities that there could be problematic parts in cars from several car brands. Including Volkswagen itself, Porsche and Bentley.
The law, which the car brands have demonstrably flouted, was introduced in the United States in 2021 to prevent goods made by slaves or under slave-like conditions from entering the country.
It is not clear whether the BMW group, Volkswagen or the JRL group also stands at a stall because they have used parts from slave labour. But Boosted follows suit.
