Bjorn bought an Audi e-tron – now he must not let it go

Bjorn Fahlström is one of the Audi e-tron 55 owners who has been told that the electric car must not be fully charged due to the risk of fire.

However, it is not only Swedish Audi owners who have been told that their cars may not be fully charged. American Audi owners received the same message earlier this year.

In Bjorn Fahlström's case, the car itself pointed out that there was a need for it to come to a workshop.

At Audi, it has turned out that there are problems with the battery pack in the e-tron 55. To overcome this, the Germans have initially installed software in the cars, which warns the owners against charging the battery to more than 80 percent.

In addition, the software monitors batteries so that there is allegedly no risk of fire. But the owners have not been told much more if you ask Bjorn Fahlström. At least he hasn't.

According to information from the US authorities, Audi is recalling 55 e-tron models with E61V type batteries that the manufacturer LG has supplied for cars produced between May 2020 and March 2022.

Authorities say failures in the batteries can mean the cars self-discharge and the battery pack suffers thermal overload. It is the latter that can cause the battery to self-ignite.

A small number of e-tron 55s are said to have already been sold in Canada and the US. However, there are also videos from Israel that allegedly show an Audi spontaneously combusting.

It is not the first time that Audi has had to recall electric cars. But it's not always the brand's fault. In December 2023, the brand had to recall almost 100,000 electric cars because the owners are too stupid. Read more about it here .

The e-tron model, which is built in Belgium, is also on its way out. And there are many indications that it will happen before time, because Audi is considering closing the entire factory.
