Bilfabrik expects to lose DKK 2.7 billion. kroner at Fisker

At Austrian Magna Steyr, 500 employees have already been fired after the production of Fisker Ocean came to a standstill. Now the factory expects to lose billions.

At Magna Steyr's Austrian car factory, 500 of the employees have already been informed that they no longer have any work.

This is partly due to the fact that a number of the car models that the factory builds for several car brands are about to go out of production. Among other things, BMW's 5-Series and Jaguar E- and I-Pace are on their way out.

In addition, it is now rumored that Toyota and BMW are sending respectively the Supra and Z4 models, which share a platform and general engineering, to the grave.

But due to the situation at Fisker Inc. alone, where production of the brand's only car, the Ocean, was stopped on March 18, Magna Steyr expects to lose 400 million dollars.

That's what Automotive News writes.

This corresponds to 2.7 billion Danish kroner. When production was halted in March, it was with a deadline of 6 weeks. It is now a very long time ago. And in Austria, you don't expect to see more of either the new Fisker Ocean or the brand's Danish founder Henrik Fisker himself.

Conversely, Fisker Inc. nor declared bankruptcy yet. This despite the car brand saying back at the end of April that it would seek bankruptcy protection within 30 days.

However, a part of Fisker – paradoxically the one in Austria – applied for voluntary bankruptcy protection on 8 May 2024 in an attempt to save the business.

Shortly afterwards, Fisker in Denmark announced that it was closing its own business in the Copenhagen suburb of Taastrup. However, the message came as an announcement in a Facebook thread. Fisker is therefore very quiet with the dores at the moment.

The latest news from Fisker is that they have secured a very small investment from an already existing investor. However, the agreement means that Henrik Fisker has effectively lost control of his car brand. Read more about it here .
