Audi is getting ready to drop the iconic logo on cars

It is first and foremost a consideration for the Chinese market that makes Audi drop its logo on the world's largest car market.

Ever since 1932, Audi has equipped its cars with the four iconic rings. A ring for each of the four combined brands that Audi consists of.

But that tradition now seems that the Germans are ready to pour directly into the toilet. And above all pull out. That is, on the Chinese market.

Reuters writes that.

The news agency cites several sources with knowledge of Audi's actions and plans for the Chinese market. From here it sounds like the German brand will drop the logo. At least on a number of future electric cars.

This is allegedly done for the sake of the brand's brand, image and reputation in China. Audi did not want to comment on the sources' claims to Reuters.

But it is a fact that Audi is suffering in China. In the course of 2024 alone, the brand will have sold less than 10,000 new cars on the world's largest car market. In comparison, local brands Nio and Zeekr, the latter a sister brand to Volvo, have sold almost eight times as many cars.

Audi's crisis in China is also felt in the management corridors. According to the financial magazine Forbes, the decline in sales to the Chinese was a direct reason why the brand's former managing director Markus Duesmann was fired in June 2023.

If that happens, however, the logo is not the only thing Audi will drop. The brand has already given up standing completely on its own two feet in China. And already last year, the Germans confirmed a collaboration with the group, which also owns MG. Read more about it here .
