Audi 'changes its mind' and extends R8 production

The last R8 has not been built yet, Audi confirms. Production is being extended to meet demand.

Just as you thought it was over, Audi's flagship continues. At least a little more. Last year it was announced that the R8 would not survive 2023.

But then the order books picked up speed. In fact, so much momentum that Audi sold twice as many R8s in 2023 as in 2022. And that alone in the US.

And now Audi confirms that it has not been able to keep up. At least not fast enough to leave the R8 behind in 2023.

In a written response to Motor1 , Audi spokeswoman Lisa Kellner confirms that the car is still in production. And that it will be so for some time to come.

In fact, Audi does not intend to turn off the assembly line for the end of the first quarter. That means in the month of March at the earliest.

The news about the slightly longer life for the R8 is not the only thing that Audi can tell at this time. There is also interesting news for RS 6 fans. Read more about it here .
