Although sales are plummeting, Porsche is holding on to the electric car

Sales are plummeting, and the models are losing value furiously fast, yet Porsche is adamant that more of the model range must be electrified.

Porsche's future is electric. At least in one form or another. And although sales are currently plummeting, most recently by 51 percent for the Taycan, the car brand from Zuffenhausen is holding firm.

The electric car is the future of the brand, says Albrecht Reimold, who is a board member at Porsche, in a comment to Automobilwoche .

Boosted has previously been able to tell that the Taycan, which was Porsche's first electric car, is a nightmare for the owners. At least when it comes to loss of value.

28 days after Porsche had presented the facelifted model earlier in the year, its value had fallen by almost a quarter of a million kroner. Read more about it here .

Nevertheless, it is maintained that electric cars are the right way to go. And even though Porsche sells far fewer electric cars than expected.

The investment in electric cars, which has not yet borne fruit, will also go beyond the Germans' other model program. Among other things, the petrol-powered Macan.

A car which has actually already disappeared completely out of Europe due to new regulations. This time, however, it is not about emissions but more about the EU Commission's fear of hacker attacks. Read more about it here .

– The platform (on which the Macan is built, ed.) has reached the end of its cycle, says Albrecht Reimold.

However, Porsche will only stop the Macan assembly line for the gasoline car at the end of 2026. That is, as it looks right now.

Other Porsche models have already suffered the same fate. The Cayman GT4 should really be killed off too. But Porsche can avoid the latest EU requirements because not many GT4s are built in advance.
