Just 5 days after the new Alfa Romeo Milano was unveiled, the brand now says it is bowing to pressure from the Italian government and changing the car's name to Junior.
Alfa Romeo has made a huge fool of itself. At least if you ask the Italian government. A car called the Milano must only be built in Italy.
And now the politicians are right. In any case, Alfa Romeo is now bowing to the pressure and changing the name of the car to be built in Poland to Junior. Read more about it here .
This is stated by the Danish importer in a translated press release from the Stellantis group, of which the car brand is a part.
– We decided to change the name, although we know that we are not obliged to do so, because we want to maintain the positive feeling that our products have always created and avoid any kind of controversy, says Alfa Romeo's managing director Jean- Philippe Imparato.

The name Junior is no accident either. Alfa Romeo has used it for that. And now they think they can cover themselves under a legacy that an electric car will probably find very difficult to live up to.
" After the success of the Giulia and its Giulia Sprint GT coupe version, designed by Giugiaro for Bertone, Alfa Romeo wanted to attract a younger, new audience eager for an exclusive car without excessively high purchase and running costs .
On 26 September 1966, the GT 1300 Junior was unveiled at Balocco and, despite the lack of the 'Giulia' name, it became the front-runner for a new Alfa Romeo generation. In fact, similar versions of the Spider series were also identified with the Junior name .", writes the Danish importer in the translation.
When the original Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior was in the program, there were 'more than 92,000 cars'. Enough for the model to become the best-selling car from the factory.
