The VW top lays off employees – even spent millions on travel

Volkswagen is in the middle of a deep economic crisis, but can still afford to send its top management on a luxury trip worth millions of dollars in Sweden.

According to German N-TV, it has cost Volkswagen millions of euros to send the management on a trip to Sweden's capital Stockholm.

Money was, among other things, spent renting an entire art museum over two days in September. All this just a few days before even the same management admitted that it is completely crazy about the economy.

For the car brand with a debt of more than 3,200 billion kroner in the middle of an economic crisis of rank. A crisis that the financial director believes the brand only has two – maybe three years – to rectify.

N-TV has the information about the million-dollar trips from the German trade union IG Metall, which organizes many of Volkswagen's factory employees in Germany.

The employees stand to lose their jobs in a big way because Volkswagen has to save. The car brand has already terminated a collective agreement with the employees. An agreement which, until this week, meant that VW could not fire the forced layoffs until 2029.

But there is a clear path for that for now. There are indications that the journey on which Volkswagen sent its management might not turn out well. In any case, the car brand has instructed the management to share something about the journey on various social media, writes N-TV.

According to the union, the luxury trip to Sweden must have taken place on a private plane and must have cost millions of dollars. Blue. so the VW top was given the opportunity to walk around with so-called VR glasses at a conference arranged for the purpose.

Fraud in the world of cars is nothing new. Indeed, the car industry is full of scandals, but they tend to look somewhat different. For example, Volkswagen is behind one of the world's biggest scandals – namely dieselgate.

A scandal that the car brand is still settling and losing lawsuits over today. Another scandal kills several drivers. Read more about it here .
