Two men sentenced for million-dollar fraud with Danish cars

Two men, aged 33 and 46 respectively, were sentenced to two years and six months in prison on Wednesday for million-dollar fraud with leasing cars.

On Wednesday afternoon this week, two men were sentenced to two years and six months in prison for fraud with leasing cars for a total of DKK 2.6 million.

This is written by TV2 Fyn .

The verdict was handed down in the Odense District Court on Wednesday afternoon. However, the punishment for the two fraudsters is made conditional on them performing several hundred hours of community service. The one who is already serving a sentence must perform 200 hours of community service.

While the other must perform a total of 250 hours of community service, as well as having a probationary period of two years. If he commits something criminal during that period, the entire sentence must be served behind bars.

The scam goes all the way back to 2019 and involves the stolen identities of a total of 16 people, 15 different lease cars and a total of DKK 2.68 million.

– They have professionally set up a scam where they found cars they could make up, so it looked like the cars were better than they really were.

– And then they have found all sorts of ways to abuse the identity of random people, so it looked like they were leasing customers, says Maria Fano-Fredelokke, who is prosecuting the case in the district court, to Ritzau.

The two convicts have pleaded not guilty throughout. They now have 14 days to consider whether to appeal the verdict. The prosecution has the same.

It is not the first time that there have been convictions for fraud with cars in this country. In September 2021 , a psychic from Slagelse was convicted of extensive document forgery and tax fraud.
