Jeremy Clarkson rejects former Top Gear host's log

A former Top Gear host is accusing another of tampering with a Tesla test years ago. But it's a new myth, says Jeremy Clarkson now.

Chris Harris, who hosted Top Gear until the program was buried in 2022, also accuses former host Jeremy Clarkson of cheating.

Harris believes that Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson in the lead in 2008 made it look as if a Tesla Roadster died after just 77 kilometers.

In addition, the Top Gear host said at the time that the brakes were bad and that it took 16 hours to charge the car. But Clarkson's replacement, Chris Harris, doesn't believe that.

Top Gear used many tools. But the result of a car review was never cheated, Clarkson writes in a column for The Sun.

– On Top Gear over the years many people were upset. But our reviews were always fair and thorough, writes Jeremy Clarkson.

In another newspaper , Clarkson, who is now 64 years old, comes up with an explanation as to why he will never, ever make TV programs about cars again.

However, Chris Harris is adamant that Top Gear did not just manipulate the Tesla test, but that Clarkson and Co. directly damaged the car brand's reputation in 'a difficult time'. However, Clarkson does not intend to participate in that mudslinging.

– There are a lot of made-up stories about what happened when I hosted Top Gear. For example, people still think that in Argentina we had the number plate H982 FKL made on purpose.

– But in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter. But it can annoy me that Chris (Harris, ed.) perpetuates the myth that my Tesla test was unfair, writes Jeremy Clarkson.
