Volkswagen in crisis – now these cars are getting more expensive

To get through a debt of more than DKK 3,200 billion in one piece, Volkswagen is now, among other things, raising the price of a number of cars in Germany.

They owe more than DKK 3,200 billion. The finance director estimates that there are two – perhaps three years – to rectify. So now certain cars are becoming more expensive.

It is the consequence of the economic crisis that the Volkswagen top management has already admitted that the brand is in the middle of.

More funds are needed to rectify the situation in Wolfsburg. But one of the quickest and most immediate is to raise prices. So it's happening now. At least at home in Germany.

Here, the prices of those of the brand's cars that come with internal combustion engines are rising. So on diesel or petrol.

According to the media, prices will rise by up to 4.2 percent. The most expensive will be the current Golf, which with a price increase of just 4.2 percent now costs from 28,330 euros. A price increase of 1,150 euros.

The information has kfz-betrieb from a leaked letter about the price increases that Volkswagen has sent out to its dealers in Germany.

The only model that is exempt from price increases is the Polo. It cost Volkswagen's decision 19,835 euros, which it still does.

Volkswagen's savings plan does not only consist of more expensive petrol and diesel cars. According to Handelsblatt, VW must find savings for a total of four billion euros. This corresponds to 29.85 billion Danish kroner.

It is not known whether the prices of Volkswagen cars with internal combustion engines will also rise in other markets – including the Danish market. But Boosted follows suit.

Volkswagen is not the only one that needs to save at the moment. Several companies in the automotive industry are facing huge savings plans.

A factory in Sweden, which manufactures electric car batteries, had to announce this week that layoffs and partial factory closure cannot be avoided. It happens i.a. after the loss of a contract with BMW worth DKK 14 billion. Read more about it here .
