Danish city introduces several bans for motorists

In several places in Copenhagen, it will now be forbidden to park for more than three hours at a time. The hope is to keep drivers from other municipalities out.

In several places in Copenhagen, it will now be forbidden to park your car for more than three hours on weekdays. It is part of the municipality's plan.

This is written by CopenhagenLIV .

The parking ban has now extended to the areas: Bispebjerg, Kongens Enghave and some of Vigerslev Allé.

The ban, which is aimed exclusively at motorists, means that it will be forbidden to park for more than three hours in the mentioned places. The ban applies on weekdays between 08 and 22.

However, the ban does not apply to drivers with a so-called resident licence. Furthermore, the municipality has no intention of introducing more paid parking in the area.

It is therefore 'only' a time limit. With the new ban, Copenhagen municipality hopes to be able to limit the access of motorists from outside.

However, Copenhagen is also among the municipalities that earn the most from parking and parking fees. In fact, there is no other Danish city that shovels more money into parking than the city government in Copenhagen does.

The municipalities' total earnings last year crossed a staggering one billion kroner. But according to FDM, some municipalities use it as an additional tax on motorists. And thus an easy way to close holes in the municipal coffers. But it's illegal. Read more about it here .
