Audi employees run amok in front of the factory – have stared at the fire

Audi factory workers in Belgium are angry that they still do not know their fate. On Monday evening, they started a fire in front of the factory.

Audi's factory employees in Belgium were so angry on Sunday evening last week that several of them started a fire outside the factory in Brussels.

The conflict is rooted in the fact that the employees do not know whether they have been bought or sold, now that Audi's management has announced that production of the Q8 e-tron must stop at the factory. At the same time, a new car that the Belgians could have got is moved to Audi's factory in Mexico because of the bonuses.

On Monday, it emerged that the employees have stolen the parts for 200 new electric cars, which can therefore not leave the factory area.

The management at the factory has apologized for the situation and at the same time demanded that some be delivered back. But the employees and their trade union don't want to talk about that. Read more about it here.

According to the Belgian media L'echo, Audi's top management has reacted by stopping wage payments to all 2,910 employees in Belgium. At the same time, the staff has been completely locked out of the factory area.

The employees claim that the ones that Audi wants back are now stored "in a safe place". However, none of the employees want to get closer to that "place". At least not in public. However, some had to be somewhere in the factory. In other words, where the employees are no longer allowed to be.

– The company has clearly communicated and shown that it wishes to resume operations. As soon as there is a desire to resume normal operations and send cars to dealers, the factory will open its doors again, says Audi factory spokesman Peter D'hoore.
