Germany will not reintroduce state subsidies for all electric cars

Initially, around 1.8 billion euros, corresponding to 13.4 billion Danish kroner, have been set aside, so that the German state will once again support new electric cars. The support is just not for everyone.

Sales of electric cars in Germany have now collapsed for the 8th consecutive month. The month of August alone was a drop of almost 70 percent. Read more about it here .

But now the government wants to end threats from Volkswagen to close factories due to a lack of support for electric cars. That is, with support for electric cars in particular.

In the first instance, a good 1.8 billion euros, approximately 13.4 billion Danish kroner, have been set aside between 2024 and 2028 for people in company cars.

Bloomberg writes that.

The money is not a direct discount on electric cars, but must instead be made up of tax credits for companies that choose electric cars.

It is still too early to say anything qualified about whether this is enough to turn the tide on the German market for electric cars. But it is a fact that the European car industry – and especially the German part – is having a hard time.

At the giant sub-supplier ZF, billions of kroner in savings must be urgently found. This means mass layoffs of 14,000 employees. Other companies such as the tire giant Continental are considering selling off entire business areas to stay afloat.

And at Varta and the battery division V4Drive recently had to be rescued by a consortium of investors led by the car brand Porsche. Read more about it here .

Other sub-suppliers and car brands have either gone bankrupt or are approaching bankruptcy. For example, BBS is about to go bankrupt for the fifth time in the rim company's history. Likewise, the cabin manufacturer Recaro has notified its employees – and thus the outside world – that it is insolvent. This means that there is not enough money to pay either salary or bills. The next step is bankruptcy.
