Another capital bans all electric lobe wheels

Following the ban on electric scooters in Paris, Spain's capital Madrid is introducing similar measures.

People are pigs in public. At least when they ride on electric lobe wheels. Now both the capitals of France and Spain are trying to overcome the problem.

First, the city government in Paris, which otherwise wants to make life very difficult for motorists, chose to ban the electric lobe wheels. And now the Spanish capital, Madrid, is following suit.

This is written by Bild on the basis of a post on the social media X from Madrid's mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida.

– The safety of the residents of Madrid is our first priority, writes Martínez-Almeida.

The mayor makes it clear that the ban already applies from October 2024. So in less than a month's time. It is 13 months after the electric lobe wheels were banned in Paris.

In the German city of Gelsenkirchen, companies with electric lobe wheels have also been evicted. It happened back in April, and the ban was the first of its kind in Germany.

At home, lobe wheels have not yet been banned. So they are still floating in the street scene in the country's biggest cities. Since 1 January 2022, however, it has been a legal requirement that those who ride an electric paddle wheel must also wear a helmet.

If it doesn't happen, and the police see it, it costs a fine of DKK 1,500. In the same incident, a blood alcohol limit was introduced, which is identical to the one that motorists must comply with. Namely 0.5 per thousand. However, some drivers are no longer allowed to drink in Denmark at all. Read more about it here .
