Ford's new patent shows advertisements in brand new cars

Ford's new technology can also listen to drivers' and passengers' conversations and play audio-based advertisements.

You can love it or hate it. Or maybe both at the same time. But advertising finances the Internet, and now it may have to spit money into Ford's budgets.

This is revealed by a publication from the US Patent Office.

Specifically, the solution that Ford has obtained a patent for is based on the individual car's specific location, route, traffic and historical GPS data. In other words, where the car has been.

Even the type of road the car is driving on can have an influence on which advertisements Ford shows or plays in new/upcoming cars. The system eavesdrops on conversations in the cars and then adjusts the number of advertisements in the individual car.

How Ford intends to use the advertisements, and whether it is possible to turn them off, does not appear from the patent. But there is no doubt that Ford will try to get more money out of the drivers' pockets, even if these pockets have already paid several hundreds of thousands of kroner for a new car.

It is also not clear whether the patent – or rather the advertising solution – will be an opportunity to finance a new car in the future.

When the truth is right, Boosted.dk is also financed by advertising revenue. But what do you think of Ford's new patent? Share your opinion with us on Boosted's Facebook page.

However, other brands have taken a verbal beating for trying to sneak payment solutions into cars that drivers have already paid for. BMW, for example, had to drop seat heating on subscribers. Now the Germans are trying to take extra payment for standard equipment on exactly the same terms. Read more about it here .
