Here, Teslas stand in line for 90 minutes just to be able to charge

Last year, New York State made it easier for motorists to become self-employed 'taxi drivers'. However, a license for this kind of work has since required an electric car. And that creates problems.

Last year, New York liberalized the legislation so that more private individuals can use their own cars as rental vehicles. Uber and those kinds of transport services, in other words.

But the now bloodied rules only apply to people in electric cars. However, this has resulted in a serious problem. Because in New York there are so many people who want to drive others around in electric cars that the number of charging stations cannot keep up.

According to InsideEV, most people in New York are unable to leave their homes. And the electric cars are therefore forced out to the public charging stations.

There are just far too few of them compared to the number of electric cars. Since liberalizing the market last year, New York has approved applications from more than 4,700 drivers who want to use their private electric cars to make money.

But many of them experience being 'stuck' at the charging stations. Bezgod Hoja is one of the Uber drivers that InsideEV's has spoken to.

And when he was asked if he couldn't just go to another charging station, another supercharger, he just pointed to the screen in his Tesla and asked – where?

All charging stations were apparently occupied. Bezgod Hoja also tells the media that he often holds a cow for an hour just to let it go. And then spend another hour charging the car's battery up to 80 percent.
