Mayor stole my vintage car, says Mr. Broccoli

Golden chains do not necessarily mean higher morals. A mayor is accused of having stolen a vintage car from a Mr. Broccoli.

He should know better. That means you shouldn't steal. Nevertheless, the mayor of the American city of Cranston, located in the state of Rhode Island, has been taken to court for car theft.

The case is a civil lawsuit and therefore not a charge brought by the prosecution. However, that doesn't make it any less embarrassing for the mayor.

The case concerns an MGB, which an American man named Davide C. Broccoli believes that the mayor Kenneth Hopkins stole when he came to look at it in connection with a possible sale.

The Boston Globe writes that.

Neither Broccoli nor the mayor had agreed on anything, however, when the car disappeared during a test drive with Hopkins behind the wheel.

At least that is how Davide C. Broccoli's lawyers explain the case in the lawsuit against the mayor. For his part, the mayor believes that the lawsuit is nothing more than an attempt to destroy an upcoming election campaign for him.

– I'll take it. I'm the mayor, so I can do exactly what I want, Hopkins is said to have said when he turned up way back in 2021 to 'look' at the car.

According to the Boston Globe, the mayor picked up a set of sample plates in another car, put them on the MG and sped away from the scene. Since then, the mayor has allegedly tried to get the local police to make life miserable for Broccoli.

Blue. the police must have searched Broccoli's commercial property, where another 35 cars were parked. The cars were ordered to be forcibly moved.

The mayor rejects the accusations, saying that the cars 'must have either been parked illegally or have been a nuisance to the city in some other way'.

– My lawyer has said that when you get into a car and drive away, you have also received verbal consent to the deal, says Hopkins.
