Stellantis regrets: No car brands should be closed

The Stellantis group is now contradicting its chief executive Carlos Tavares, who as recently as August threatened to sell or close several car brands.

Stellantis remains as it has always been since the group was created by a merger of Fiat-Chrysler and PSA. Brands must neither be sold nor closed.

As recently as August, the group's managing director, Carlos Tavares, otherwise threatened to close or sell the most economically disadvantaged of the brands.

The announcement immediately sparked speculation about which brands were at risk of closure or being cheap to sell. Maserati buckled shortly after the pressure to say that it was not for sale.

And now it is generally reported from the Stellantis management that nothing is to be sold or closed among the group's total of 14 car brands.

The group states this in a press release .

Specifically, the short announcement actually goes to Dodge and Chrysler as car brands. In recent days, the family of the founder of Chrysler, Walter Percy Chrysler, has otherwise been looking for Stellantis.

The family accuses the group of neglecting the American car brands. At the same time, the family said that they will now try to gather enough investors to buy the brands out of Stellantis. But the two American brands are not for sale at all.

– We are not looking to sell any of our 14 brands, reads the brief press release.

On the other hand, it is no secret that things are particularly bad at Chrysler. The current model range consists of just two cars. And that is even an exaggeration. For one, a plug-in is the hybrid version of the other.

In fact, there is so little going on at Chrysler that the car brand has not yet bothered to remove the sedan model 300C from the website. Even though the car is no longer in production at all. Read more about it here .
