It must cost far more to repair a Mercedes C-Class from 2008 than it is really worth, Mercedes believes.
Some cars are just not worth keeping. In any case, it will not make economic sense to make the attempt.
Mercedes has said that well enough between the lines, but still quite clearly to the owner of a C-Class from 2008.
According to Mercedes, the car must be repaired for nothing less than 20,000 dollars, equivalent to 136,000 kroner. A Mercedes owner says so himself in a post on the social media site Reddit .
– I was told today that it will cost 40 working hours and 20,000 dollars to repair my C-Class from 2008, begins the post, which is accompanied by Mercedes' own assessment of the faults on the car.

It's no small thing the owner complained about in the first place either. The car was briefly at the workshop with rust damage on the subframe.
Something Mercedes, however, covers with a 20-year warranty, completely independent of the mileage. But there is obviously a lot else wrong with the car. A lot.
Among other things, the rust has spread to the sump, which is 'heavily attacked'. A new sump is needed. Mercedes will have paid 2.5 hours' wages for the replacement alone.
Even so, the list of errors and the hours of work needed to correct them continues, otherwise just almost endlessly.
Mercedes will also have paid 5 working hours to replace the brakes all round. However, Mercedes charges a full 7 working hours to remove the exhaust, because it is welded in place in some places. If the rusted subframe is not removed, the number of hours is turned up to 9.
