New car brand comes to the Nordics but skips Denmark

General Motors withdrew from Europe when it sold Opel to the then Peugeot-Citroën group in 2017. Since then, only Corvette cars have been sold here. The new importer, however, bypasses Denmark.

Swedish Hedin Mobility Group has taken over the import of the Chevrolet Corvette in the Nordics. However, the Swedes do not count Denmark in that context.

In 2025, Corvette will become its own brand within the General Motors group. But the cars will not officially come to Denmark.

Specifically, it is Hedin Mobility's subsidiary Hedin Sports Cars AB that takes over the imports, which are already in Sweden, Norway and Finland.

The company states this in a press release .

Hedin Mobility Group, on the other hand, is no stranger to Danish soil. In 2022, the Swedes bought into a joint venture that takes over 50/50 the import of Renault in Sweden and Denmark from the factory in France.

– We are very proud to strengthen our distribution agreement with General Motors and to represent Corvette, a brand synonymous with American performance corvettes, in one of the world's largest markets, says Anders Hedin, CEO of Hedin Mobility Group.

But there won't be any Corvette sales here at home.

Sales in Sweden, Norway and Finland began in the spring with the introduction of the latest Corvette C8, which for the first time ever has a center engine. The next task, says Hedin, will be to provide more Corvettes for larger European markets.

Apart from the Corvette, which will thus become an independent part of General Motors in 2025, there has been talk of a general comeback on the European market for the group.

However, it is news that has already made several cracks. Norwegian media have recently been able to tell that GM has terminated a lease at one of the most expensive addresses in the capital Oslo. However, the car group's Norwegian subsidiary has refused to deal with the closure. Read more about it here .
