BMW owner escaped with a warning for exceeding 200 km/h

A first-generation BMW 850i can reach 200 km/h without much difficulty. Speed does not usually escape the driver well, unless…

He gave it in the role of perhaps the world's best-known secret agent, James Bond aka Agent 007, between 1995 and 2002.

But out on the roads of reality, Pierce Brosnan was and is just Pierce Brosnan. And yet. Because in 1997, Brosnan himself said that he escaped a serious conversation with the police in the US state of Idaho, even though he flew right past them at 120 miles per hour.

The speed, which corresponds to 194 km/h, was achieved by Pierce Brosnan in a BMW 850i, which he had received from BMW in the mid-1990s.

No problem for the 12-cylinder flagship. But a huge problem for most mortals. But not just Mr. Bond.

However, the police had to have one thing in return for letting the Irish actor get away with the traffic law so easily.

Brosnan, who was then in his 40s, had to nicely explain to the officers how the film crew behind Goldeneye from 1995 screwed up the film's wild bungee jump, which was filmed in Switzerland.

Why he suddenly went almost 200 km/h, Pierce Brosnan himself explained that he was not 'aware of it'.

– I wasn't aware of that. The car was so good (to sing in, ed.), so unimpressive, says the Bond actor.

BMW also put a significant amount of work into the top model of the 90s. Among other things, the windows in the long coupe with the frameless doors open automatically when the speed is over 160 km/h. All to reduce wind noise.
