The electric car manufacturer Rivian's factory in the city of Normal, Illinois, was hit by a fire on Thursday night, which has killed an unknown number of electric cars.
Thursday evening at At 21:05 local time, the emergency services in the American city of Normal, located in the state of Illinois, were called to a fire on the premises of a car factory.
The fire turned out to have started on the premises of the crisis-hit brand Rivian. When the fire trucks arrived at the scene, several electric cars were heavily on fire.

According to a spokesperson at Rivian, the fire may be limited to an as yet unknown number of electric cars. The factory itself must have been freed from the flames.

According to The Sun's information, the fire was extinguished at midnight. But it leaves damage worth millions. Rivian's cheapest car, the basic version of the R1T pickup, costs from DKK 71,000. That is DKK 473,000.

The fire at the factory is also only the latest in a series of hard blows to the brand, which has had a difficult six months.
