Electric cars slow down traffic, say the police

The speed on the roads has come down quite a bit. Both at home and in Sweden. On the other side of Øresund, the police blame the electric cars.

The Roads Directorate has already measured that motorists here at home drive more slowly on the motorways than just a few years ago. Read more about it here .

Now the same thing turns out to be the case in Sweden. Here, law enforcement is quite ready to blame electric cars.

It is connected to several things. Partly, there have been more electric cars on the roads, partly the higher speeds drain the electric cars of battery more quickly. Also faster than many drivers might expect.

– People actually sing more slowly, but that does not mean that they have become more law-abiding. But it depends on the electric cars.

– They (electric cars, ed.) draw much more current at higher speeds. People have not become more law-abiding, but more thrifty, says Erling Andersson, who is national coordinator for the traffic police in Sweden, to Carup .

So it is just something other than speed that now causes drivers to break the law. Several surveys also point to that.

Because not only do motorists think that cyclists are the most annoying thing on the roads, many of the motorists also admit that they still sit with their phones in their hands.

Recently, a survey has also been carried out which shows what motorists blame each other for the most. In short, what behavior in traffic causes the most drivers to see a mess. Read more about it here .
