The roof of a Tesla Model X is fixed in two places. But not good enough. For now, over 9,000 cars with roof structures that fall down need to be repaired.
Tesla has launched a campaign to recall more than 9,000 copies of the Model X that have been in production since 2016.
It turns out that the fabric sky can loosen in such a way that it falls down. This appears from a safety report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Specifically, the problem is that the glue used at the two points where the roof is attached in a Tesla Model X weakens over time. One point is just behind the windshield, while the other is right in the middle of the roof structure. That is, right between the seagull wings.

BMW has had the same problem for several years. Up through the 90s and early 00s, the 3 and 5 Series of the time in particular were plagued by headliners that fell on the heads of the owners and their passengers.
At BMW, too, the problem was due to the fact that too little glue was used. Back at Tesla, interestingly enough, this is not the first time that Model X has been recalled due to just that problem.
Exactly the same thing happened in November 2020, but now it turns out that Tesla didn't do the job well enough then, almost four years ago.
That Tesla recalls cars with physical defects is not part of everyday life. By contrast, software bugs that the car brand fixes with updates are more common. Recently, however, Tesla had to recall 1.8 million cars, as there is a risk that the flap to the front trunk can fly up under traffic, even if it is initially closed correctly. However, Tesla refuses to take the blame for other defects. For example, tailgates that rust after the warranty expires. In any case, the brand, which has repaired similar damage, says that in at least one case it is now the owner's own fault. Read more about it here.
