Fisker must recall 7,745 cars with serious faults

Fisker Inc., which has now gone bankrupt throughout the Nordics, must on the other side of the Atlantic recall as many as 7,745 cars with a serious fault in the brakes.

Fisker Inc. expected to go bankrupt shortly. But before then, the car brand has been ordered to recall 7,745 cars. All with serious faults on the brakes.

This appears from a letter from the US safety authorities for corral trains, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

According to the authorities' assessment, the almost 8,000 cars are all affected by the error, where the regeneration of the braking energy does not work as it should.

The authorities can also state that an accident has been registered that can be directly linked to the problem in Fisker Ocean. Even the remnants of the car brand say that they will try to fix the error with a so-called Over The Air update. In other words, a piece of software that can be downloaded directly to the cars.

– When braking over bumps, there is a short-term reduction in negative engine power (regenerative braking power), which lasts a few milliseconds.

– The temporary reduction in regenerative braking can give the driver the feeling that the train is accelerating (ed. when the brake is pressed), even if no actual acceleration occurs, the authorities say.

Fisker Ocean is generally a car that was sent to the market far too quickly. The materials in the cabin are of poor quality, there are several serious problems with both hardware and software, and on top of the bankruptcy protection that Fisker is currently in, there is great doubt as to whether it is even possible to get hold of spare parts.

For the same reason, several insurance companies both at home and abroad have started showing customers who want comprehensive insurance for a Fisker Ocean.

In at least one case, a Fisker Ocean in the USA has been declared a total loss due to a dent in the mandrel. In that case, the insurance company assessed that it would be too expensive to pay out anything other than compensation for the car as a total loss. Read more about it here .
