The government: "A blood alcohol limit of 0.0 must apply to all drivers"

17-year-olds must be allowed to drive alone at certain times of the day. In return, they must not drink anything for the first three years they have a choir card.

It must be forbidden to drink alcohol and drive a car during the first three years of having a driving license.

The SVM government thinks so. On Thursday morning, the government presented a proposal that, in exchange for allowing 17-year-olds to drive alone between 05.00 and 20.00 prohibits them from drinking alcohol.

At least as long as they want to drive a car and haven't had a driver's license for more than three years. According to the government, the scheme will make it easier to get to and from work, school or leisure activities.

– We call it freedom under responsibility, and we have full confidence that the youth can handle it well. Especially because we are tightening the zero-tolerance on alcohol traffic jams, said Minister for Cities and Rural Districts Morten Dahlin (V) at a press conference in Skælskor.

The government's proposal, which has not yet become law, is already facing criticism from several quarters. Blue. from senior researcher at DTU, Mette Moller. To DR, she expresses concern about the proposal. The brains of 17-year-old drivers are simply not developed enough to drive a car on their own, she believes.

The SVM government is far from the only ones who want to change the choir card rules. The EU pays attention to the same. Here, the youngest drivers would be prohibited from driving for the majority of the day. However, that proposal was quickly scrapped from the negotiating table again.

Another proposal that the EU is preparing could potentially make the Tesla Cybertruck legal for many more drivers. Also here in Denmark. Read more about it here .
