Burning Tesla Semi blocked highway for 16 hours

A burning Tesla Semi, which is a truck, recently created a 16-hour-long chaos on a highway in California, where it caught fire.

A burning Tesla Semi truck created a 16-hour-long chaos on a highway in California the other day. The burning electric truck blocked all tracks in both directions.

According to InsideEVs, the fire proved very difficult to put out. Therefore, a sea of motorists was also stuck in a cow, which began to pile up when the lorry went wrong at 03 Monday this week local time.

Parts of the traffic could be diverted around the burning truck, and little by little the tracks in both directions were reopened. But first at 19 the same evening it was again completely free on the motorway.

The Tesla Semi has a range of over 600 kilometers. But this is because the battery pack is more than ten times larger than the one normally found in a passenger car. The capacity is around 900 kWh.

Right now, Tesla is only testing the truck's capabilities. Among other things, the soft drink manufacturer Pepsi is involved in the trial, which so far only takes place in the USA.

But Tesla – unlike the Cybertruck – actually has plans to take the Semi to Europe. In any case, the brand has started hiring staff for the task.

It has also happened here at home that a fire in an electric car has caused chaos. It happened i.a. on a Sunday afternoon in November last year, when an electric bus completely burned out on the Amagerbro motorway. Read more about it here .

However, there is no major reason to be nervous about fuel in electric cars and cars in general. Studies have repeatedly shown that fires are very rare. Still, a country like Greece has chosen to ban electric cars on ferries. Read more about it here .
