The EU has revised the tariffs aimed at electric cars produced in China, which were adopted in June. This benefits Tesla in particular.
However, Tesla will not have to pay a 20.8 percent penalty duty on top of the 10 percent duty that is already on electric cars.
The EU has decided this after the union has reassessed the customs duties that were otherwise adopted at the beginning of June. Now it is said that Tesla will get away with a 9 percent penalty on the cars the brand sends from its factory in Shanghai.

Tesla is not the only one to escape the penalty duty a little cheaper. Electric cars from the Geely group and BYD are also punished less severely. This is respectively from 19.9 to 19.3 percent for Geely and from 17.4 to 17 percent for BYD.
The companies – i.a. MG – which did not want to cooperate when the EU investigated China's illegal state subsidies to the car industry, instead of the 37.6 percent punitive duty, gets rid of 36.3 percent.
Back at Tesla, which is known for playing yo-yo with prices, this may mean that the Danes can once again get cheaper cars. As a response to the EU's punitive tariffs, Tesla raised i.a. the price of the Model 3 in Denmark. That car now costs DKK 312,000. But maybe that won't be the case tomorrow.
There are also indications that the prices of electric cars in general need to reach an even lower level. This is perhaps most clearly seen in Germany, where sales of electric cars have now collapsed for the 7th month in a row.
The collapse came immediately after the German government, in order to plug a hole in the treasury, removed all public support for electric cars.
In roughly the same ballpark, several car brands have regretted their goals of only offering electric cars. Most recently, Audi has said that you cannot do without the internal combustion engine in 2033. That was otherwise the plan.
