Tesla owes 1 million kroner because drivers run away

For a number of years, Tesla has paid the bill when Norwegians in loaner cars have run away from the parking bill. Now the car brand has stopped, and the parking companies are pissed off.

For a number of years, drivers to whom Tesla lends cars in connection with service and workshop visits have run away when they have to pay for parking.

Until recently, the Norwegian Tesla importer has chosen to pay the bill when the parking companies have complained. But it has stopped now.

The bill for the unpaid parking actually came to NOK 131,000. But now it has grown to almost DKK 1 million. In Danish currency, it is DKK 630,000.

The money, which the company Riverty, which sends out invoices for a number of parking companies in Norway, would very much like to receive. Therefore, the dispute has now ended as a civil lawsuit.

Tesla defends itself by saying that the parking companies themselves bear the risk that the payment may/may not fall in their direction. Therefore, it is also the parking companies that must go in search of Tesla's customers. Not Tesla itself.

Now the case has ended up in the district court in Oslo, because Tesla has actually already lost the case once. Namely when it was tried to be settled with a settlement outside the legal system. But Tesla will not recognize the outcome of that settlement.

To the Norwegian media E24, Riverty's communications manager Kristina Nilsson confirms that they have been chasing Tesla for the money for a long time. However, the company otherwise has no further comments on the matter.

From the case documents, it appears that some of the unpaid parking is caused by Tesla's own employees, who are trying to wipe the bill off their employer. However, Tesla says that the majority of unpaid parking bills can be attributed to drivers in loaner cars.
