FDM warns motorists against a wild phenomenon that crushes the engine

It can be really, really expensive for Danish drivers if they step on the accelerator instead of the brake when there are large amounts of water on the road.

The prospect of violent amounts of rain – which has already happened here several times – is now causing the interest organization FDM to warn Danish motorists against this violent phenomenon.

The cars on the Danish roads can be seriously damaged when the rain first pours down from above. This is what Martin Velde, a technical advisor at FDM, tells Ritzau.

Time and time again, FDM believes that the Danish mechanics are fashioned by motorists who have smashed the engines in their cars because the cars have been shorted by excessive amounts of water.

– Every time there has been rain, you as a mechanic experience that cars come into the workshop with broken engines because people have done that number, says Martin Velde.

At FDM, we believe that the water must never go higher than the lower part of the rim edge. If the water is higher, and the driver still takes the chance, the car pushes the water in front of it.

And this is where things can really go wrong. Otherwise, there can also be problems if the car is stationary. Do not attempt to start a flooded car.

The car must instead be towed to a workshop to avoid further damage. It can be particularly bad if the car is flooded with sewage. Motorists who nevertheless take the chance and drive through, for example, a very large pool of water, cannot be sure of their safety either.

In any case, it is far from certain that the insurance will cover it. The insurance companies can say that the individual driver has acted grossly negligently by driving on. And then there is nothing other than the driver's own finances to cover the damages.

Nevertheless, the phenomenon that FDM is now warning against has become its very own corner of the video platform YouTube. Here, millions watch when users upload videos of reckless drivers.

However, some injuries should not be accepted as an accident. Hans Ole Andersen is one of those for whom things have turned out completely different when Boosted entered his case regarding a defective gearbox on an otherwise very well-maintained car. Read more about it here .
