Police are hunting reckless cyclists this week

It is certainly not just motorists that the police keep an eye on in traffic. This week, cyclists can expect to be closely watched.

It's just to be safe. It is because some cyclists put consideration for other road users aside when they ride on pavements and in pedestrian crossings that the police are now cracking down.

This week, police circles are chasing the country over cyclists and moped choirs. The so-called bloody road users.

This is what the National Police writes in a press release .

– With our controls, we increase road safety. Bloody road users are less protected, less visible and some have risky behavior in traffic.

– Our goal is to create safety on the roads, and with these efforts we are helping to prevent accidents, says police assistant Christian Berthelsen from the National Police's Group Communications.

Bloody road users make up a significant proportion of those killed and injured in traffic, and they are more exposed to serious injuries when they are involved in traffic accidents.

In figures cited by the police, 23 cyclists and 9 moped riders were killed in traffic in 2022. That year a further 810 cyclists and 221 moped riders were injured.

In some of the accidents, risky behavior by cyclists and moped riders was a contributing factor.
