Nikita Mazepin pulled out of Formula 1 when Russia invaded Ukraine. Since then, the young Russian has not been anywhere near motorsport's finest class. Now a comeback is looming .
Nikita Mazepin's name is questionable again in the Formula 1 paddock. The young Russian connection namely with a comeback in the sport.
And it's not just any team that should be interested in the many millions of kroner that the young Russian can get.
Allegedly, it is the crisis-stricken Alpine, which last week got a new team manager, and which is rumored to be close to an engine agreement with Mercedes, which wants the Russian's money.

However, Alpine's rescue attempt may be something and more than a new team manager and a new engine supplier, should Renault withdraw from the sport again.
It is rumored that Alpine is considering a merger with the Formula 2 team Hitech. In any case, Renault must have investigated the possibility of selling the team to Hitech in particular.
Hitech, which itself has a bid for and was rejected a place in Formula 1. The bid, which came last year, was financially supported by the Kazakh billionaire Vladimir Kim, who for his part maintains a warm connection to the Mazepin clan.
Hitech had Mazepin in a car in both Formula 2 and the Asian Formula 3 Championship.
Nikita Mazepin himself has categorically said no when he has been asked whether he has given up Formula 1. The 25-year-old man has even succeeded in getting the EU's sanctions against him lifted, so that he can legally join Formula 1 1 again.
Whether Mazepin – money or not – is at all interesting in a Formula 1 context is another matter. Nikita Mazepin did not score a single point in his one season at Haas. In fact, he performed so poorly in the car that he was disqualified by his teammate Mick Schumacher.
