Former Top Gear host Freddie Flintoff retired from the program when he was badly injured in 2022. Now he is speaking publicly about the accident for the first time.
An accident during the filming of the 34th season of Top Gear following its reboot in 2002 spelled the temporary end of the British motoring programme.
Now former host Freddie Flintoff is speaking publicly for the first time about the accident that could have cost him his life in December 2022.
The accident happened when a Morgan, which Flintoff was driving, flipped over and flipped its wheels in the air. Flintoff was rushed to hospital immediately after the accident. And it was a long time before he appeared in public again.
It happened for the first time at a cricket match. At the time, it emerged that Flintoff and the BBC had reached a settlement that secured the former cricketer millions of pounds in damages.

The BBC has since buried Top Gear 'indefinitely'. But Flintoff is still on the state media's pay list. Because the documentary 'Field of Dreams On Tour', which has been in the making for two years, will soon be released.
In the documentary, Flintoff, whose face is still marked by the accident, appears. "Something happened that changed my life forever", it reads.
Sources close to the former Top Gear host have told that he is badly affected by the accident. Especially psychologically, the trip around the Morganen must have taken a toll on the now 46-year-old Flintoff.
However, he is far from the only Top Gear host who has been close to death in connection with recordings for the car programme.
In September, Richard Hammond, who hosted the program between 2002 and 2015, crashed a dragster at 466 km/h. It almost cost the host nicknamed 'Hamster' his life.
